May 3 - CNS and Harrisons Clinical Research, headquartered in Munich, Germany sign a mutual Strategic Partnership Agreement. This exciting partnership cements the close relationship the two companies have had for many years, and adds remarkable value for our clients.
In other news, Russ and Tony have returned from Chicago where they attended the 46th annual BIO meeting, with partner companies BELTAS and CPR. It was once again a fantastic trip and it was great to note the ever increasing interest in Australasia. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth to say hi!
Tony also traveled to Vancouver in his role as president of QCTN, as part of the Queensland Trade Mission.

Russ has returned from a great BIO Spring meeting in Barcelona, where CNS attended with partner companies BELTAS and CPR to showcase how all three companies work together to provide clinical trial solutions. This was the second year Europe has been included in our travels and we hope to continue this for the coming years.

CNS is proud to be part of the Partnership Agreement between US life sciences investment group Burrill & Company and a group of leading Queensland life science entities, including the State Government. This agreement is exciting news for the Queensland biotech industry and continues to prove that it is home to some of the best research developments in the world.

In other news, CNS is pleased to annouce Susan Jones, who has augmented the CNS team as QA Manager, increasing CNS service offering with Quality Assurance/ GCP Audit. Sue is independent of the Operations team, reporting directly to Tony Webber, CEO. Sue has joined us from a senior management position at Kendle Pty Ltd Australia and has previously held QA Auditor position in the USA with Kendle, serving on their international SOP committee. Sue has a depth of experience in quality management systems and adds an extra dimension to the quality GCP clinical services that CNS provides to its clients.
Louise Moore has joined the CNS team as Medical Writer. Coming from positions in Regulatory Affairs for Large Pharma, Biotech and CROs, Louise has a unique insight into requirements for submissions to Regulatory Authorities in the EU, North America and Australia as well as to Institutional Review Boards and Ethics Committees. Louise is applying these skills to Protocol Writing, IB Development, and Clinical Study Reports for our clients.

Our CEO, Prof Anthony Webber, was awarded the inaugural award for Life Time Achievement in Contribution to Life Sciences in Queensland. It was a very proud moment for all at CNS, and anyone who has worked with Tony will agree that it was very well deserved. Congratulations Tony!

In other news, CNS invited partner companies BelTas and CPR to join for a full day meeting on how to further improve working together. It was a very interesting and productive day, followed by a social evening of dinner and a murder mystery party. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and a great way to enhance working relations.

In mid August, CNS made the exciting move to brand new dedicated offices, situated one floor above the old offices. This move was a huge step in our ever developing growth, and we are delighted with the new, spacious layout. Please see our updated contact us page for our new phone and fax numbers.

For CNS, as for most biotech companies, every year June brings the annual DIA and BIO meetings. After traveling through Vancouver and Seattle for various pre-BIO meetings, Tony Webber and Russell Neal attended and exhibited with QCTN at both DIA and BIO. It was once again a hugely successful trip, with CNS, along with QCTN, Q-Pharm, Tetra-Q, QFAB and the Queensland Government promoting Australasia and Queensland as a destination for clinical trials. May brings many exciting events, with CNS again signing a Strategic Partnership Agreement, this time with Vancouver based clinical trial management company, ASKA Research. This agreement adds to a growing number of international partners, which enables CNS to leverage its early-phase focus into the later stages of product development more effectively.
The Strategic Partnership Agreement between CNS and ASKA is the first such business-to-business alliance under the Economic Research Agreement signed by the governments of British Columbia and Queensland in June 2008.
In other news, Russ Neal and Tony Webber will be attending the 2009 BIO International Convention, in Atlanta, Georgia, after speaking at various pre-BIO meetings in Seattle and Vancouver. CNS will be exhibiting with QCTN and encourage anyone attending BIO to come and say hello.

CNS and Ground Zero Pharmaceuticals, Inc of Irvine, California, have signed a mutual Strategic Partnership Agreement. This partnership is a critical expansion of our ability to help Australian clients enter the development stage of the US, and similarly provide a proven strategy for fast tracking GZP's clients through initial clinical trials. March has been a busy month for CNS, starting off the conferences for the year with a very successful NZ BIO meeting in Auckland, followed by DIA Europe in Berlin, at which we exhibited with QCTN. It was great to this year include Europe in our travels, and hope to make it a reoccuring event.
Also this month, we are pleased to have appointed a new Clinical Project Manager, who will begin work in late April. We are sure this appointment will further consolidate and augment our Project Management expertise and continue the high level of customer service and unique solution provision our clients have come to expect from CNS.

CNS has, like many, been surprised by the continued strength of our industry despite the global reccesion, and in particular is delighted by Australia's continued attractiveness to our clients in the US and Europe. To this end CNS has commenced another round of staff recruitment and expansion - watch this space for more details.
Also over the next few weeks CNS looks forward to making announcements on several new partnerships aimed at expanding our service offerings to our clients.

CNS was again at the AAPS annual conference, this time held in Atlanta, Georgia as part of the QCTN members booth. It was great to catch up with friends new and old.

The second Clinical Research Excellence Conference (CRX08) was held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland on Thursday 7 though to Saturday 9 August 2008. The CRX meeting was the pre-eminent conference for the Clinical Research industry accross Australia and attracted over 300 attendees.
CNS was a proud exhibitor throughout the conference, and hosted a range of training courses in accordance with CRX. For more information on our training courses, please see our training page.

CNS CEO Prof Tony Webber and Dir of Operations, Russ Neal, again visited the US as part of our annual attendance at the BIO and DIA conferences. This year Tony had the honour of being invited to chair one of the BIO sessions, with Russ being invited as a speaker in the clinical trial forum. For the first time this year BIO had a sub-area dedicated to clinical trials and CNS joined QCTN and other members both at the QCTN pavillion (located near the Australia/NZ Pavillion) as well as our second booth in the clinical trial sub-area.

CNS has extended its services to our clients by now offering Medical Writing. We are delighted to welcome Allison Sutherland to our team, who in partnership with our medical and scientific consultants will be able to assist CNS clients with their protocols, Investigator Brochures and following support from our Biometrics partner Emphron Informatics, through to full Clinical Study Reports.
On 14 and 15 May, CNS ran the ACRP GCP for Research Professionals course in Northern Queensland for the first time. We had such positive responses that we will continue to deliver this important course to regional Queensland. If you might be interested in CNS bringing this training to your facility and can guarantee a minimum of ten participants, please contact us for further details.
March 30 - April 2, NZBio Conference, New Zealand
CNS attended its first NZ BIO conference in Auckland in March and thank the organisers for an interesting and productive meeting. CNS Dir of Operations, Russ Neal, was one of the speakers with its NZ partner BelTas.

November 11-15, AAPS Annual Meeting in San Diego, California
CNS joined the world's largest gathering of pharmaceutical scientists at the 2007 AAPS Annual Meeting & Exposition. CNS joined with our Queensland member organisation QCTN and in addition to other QCTN members such as QPharm, we were delighted to be joined by friends Okikawa & Associates and BelTas, our partner in New Zealand

The inaugural "Clinical Research Excellence" Conference, CRX07, was held on the weekend of 17 – 19 August 2007 in Melbourne, Australia. Please see our training page for further information on GCP training in Australia.
ISTH Congress Geneva
Tony Webber was present at this year's Congress of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis which was held in Geneva from the 6-12 July 2007.
15 May 2007 - CNS exhibits at the 2007 BIO International Convention
The 2007 BIO International Convention, produced by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), drew a record 22,366 attendees, a nearly 15 percent increase from the previous year, with representatives from 48 states and 64 countries. One-third of attendees came from outside the United States.
Tony Webber (CEO of CNS) " This was my 10th BIO and by far the company's most successful. Exhibiting as a member organization on the Queensland Clinical Trials Network (QCTN) pavilion allowed CNS to demonstrate its capacity to manage early phase trials for international sponsors at a variety of clinical sites in Queensland and other Australian states."
The 2007 BIO International Convention is the world's largest event for the biotechnology industry. The Convention ran Sunday, May 6 through Wednesday, May 9 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in Boston, Mass. The 2008 BIO International Convention will be held June 17-20 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.
